My obsession with writing started by way of glossies like CosmoGIRL!, Seventeen and Teen Vogue. I picked up the The Beauty Issue (May 2003) of CosmoGirl!, decided I wanted to be Atoosa Rubenstein  and never looked back. 

 

I love to explore beauty and style as they relate to identity and culture. But I’m also a sucker for a blinding highlight and all of the ‘cool-girl’ marketing behind emerging beauty brands (I’m looking at you, Glossier!).

I have a B.A. in mass communications, specializing in magazine journalism and creative writing from the University of South Florida. My dream is to work in the beauty industry as a content or communications strategist or as whoever is responsible for naming nail polish shades. 

 

During the day I’m a full-time marketing coordinator in Chicago and at night I’m watching beauty videos or the Real Housewives of wherever. I also write freelance for digital publications like Career Contessa, Reader’s Digest and Dose Media. I’m interested in taking on more freelance work in the beauty and style realm this year.
